share knowledge and to develop connections
The aim of the workshop is to share knowledge and to develop connections and opportunities for collaborative research and graduate-level education.
With 15 UVic faculty members and over 35 graduate students working with industry partners in Canada and abroad, IESVic has helped UVic establish strong international leadership in energy and fuel research. In 2008, the international newsletter Science Watch ranked UVic fifth in the world in citation impact in energy and fuels, behind Princeton, Cornell and the US National Energy Lab.
IESVic director Dr. Peter Wild anticipates that "this workshop will lead to new collaborations for faculty members, new opportunities for graduate students and high impact research projects based here at UVic and with our partners in China."
Plans are already underway for UVic to host the conference in its second year, as it heads to Canada.
