International business
The international business specialization will prepare you for the growing number of career opportunities in today's global marketplace. This program builds on the core commerce courses and provides a series of international business courses in your fourth year.
Along with our excellent location close to both the Asian and American markets, a major strength of the international business (IB) specialization is the combination of academic course work with language training, direct international experience and cultural awareness.
We provide a creative and interactive learning environment through lectures, case studies, group projects and discussions. In addition, both the faculty and the student body represent a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds that introduces students to many different perspectives in international business.
You can optimize your IB specialization experience in a number of ways:
- with an international academic exchange
- an international co-op work term placement, or
- an international work-study tour arranged by the faculty
Possible international career opportunities include:
- international marketing
- customs broking
- foreign investment consulting
- international trade and import/export
- overseas manufacturing
International business course descriptions can be found in the UVic Calendar.
