Program advisers

If you are interested in applying to the BCom program you should read the admission information and contact our admissions officer by email if you have any further questions.

Students in the BCom program are assigned a program adviser who can:

  • answer questions regarding course prerequisites and program requirements,
  • help you plan your program and answer any questions pertaining to graduation.

Don't forget to read the University Calendar for further information.

To make a personal appointment with your program adviser, phone or email the Business Student Services office at 250-472-4728 or  bssclerk@uvic.ca.

CAPP Report

A CAPP (Curriculum Advising and Program Planning) report is an electronic record of your degree program. It is designed to show you what you have finished and what is remaining in your program. Your BCom program advisor will use your CAPP report in the process of advising you about your program. It is an excellent tool to help you with course planning. You must declare your area of specialization with the Business Student Services office before requesting a CAPP report.
If you have any questions regarding your CAPP report, please contact your BCom program adviser.

Graduation Requirements

If you intend to graduate you must complete an application for graduation as soon as possible but no later than December 1 for May graduation, or July 1 for November graduation. Applications are available at Undergraduate Records or you may request one online at the Undergraduate Records site. You will not be eligible to graduate until you have formally declared your degree program through the completion of a Curriculum Advising and Program Planning (CAPP).

Note: Due to the delay in obtaining official transcripts, students completing their degree requirements at another institution during the second term of the winter session (January–April) are not eligible to graduate at May convocation. They must apply for a succeeding convocation.

Candidates for graduation are responsible for reviewing their academic record regarding both their individual degree program and general university degree requirements, as noted in the calendar. Students are strongly advised to make an appointment at their faculty advising centre to review their records early in their final year of study.

Students who apply to graduate but who subsequently change their mind or are ineligible must give written notice of cancellation to Undergraduate Records.
