Contest Details
The 2013 World Looks Different Contest is a video contest, hosted by the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, which gives participants a chance to show the world their stunning videos while on exchange or co-op and through the first person point of view. This video can be a collage of images or a single stream. Think outside the box and have fun with it!

Contest entry period begins on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. PST and ends on Friday, November 29th at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

How to Enter
Upload a 3 – 15 second video of your travels to Instagram and tag @gustavsonUVic, along with the hashtag #theworldlooksdifferent. Each contestant will require an Instagram account to participate. The contest is open to all University of Victoria students who are on exchange. The deadline to enter is Friday, November 29th at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
Eligibility and
Requirements
- Contest is open to students of the University of Victoria (who are ordinarily resident of Canada, excluding Quebec) who are on exchange. No purchase is necessary. Only one video submission entry is allowed per individual or group.
- To be valid, the entries and video submissions must be received by Friday, November 29, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Video submissions must contain an individual or group in the first person point of view.
- By entering the contest contestants certify that all video submissions are the original work of the individual or group and do not infringe the rights of any third party, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, privacy and personality rights. Video submissions may not show clothing items bearing business, designer, or sports logos or design.
- The maximum length for each video submission is 15 seconds, and the minimum length is 3 seconds. There is a limit of one video submission per participant. All videos must be submitted in accordance with the eligibility and submission requirements herein or they will not be considered. By making a video submission, contestants give the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business a perpetual royalty-free right license to use the video submission and contestants waive any moral rights which they may have in the video submission. Entrants understand that they are providing their information to the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business and not to Instagram.
- All persons appearing in a video submission must have given their permission for the video submission to be entered into the contest. Failure of each video participant to grant permission for the video submission to be entered into the contest will render the video submission ineligible for consideration.
- Consideration of video submissions and selection of the top 4 finalists and the winner overall is at the sole and absolute discretion of the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. The decision of the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business and the judges is final and binding on all matters relating to the contest. Submissions which contain nudity, offensive language and/or behavior, and/or threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane or indecent content of any kind will not be considered and will be disqualified from eligibility. Submissions which violate municipal, provincial and/or federal laws or regulations or which encourage anyone to violate municipal, provincial and/or federal laws or regulations will not be considered and will be disqualified from eligibility. Submissions which contain advertising or commercial messages will not be considered and will be disqualified from eligibility.
- The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business will not be responsible for any travel or accommodation costs that may be associated with this video.
- Contestants must agree to the within Rules and Regulations of this contest and to the Terms and Conditions of this contest, as shown on the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business website, for video submissions to be eligible for consideration.
Determination of
Contest Winner
Winner will be voted on by the public via likes and comments on the Peter B. Gustavson social media sites and on the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business website with the top 4 videos receiving the greatest number of likes and/or positive comments winning an iPad mini! If the winner overall cannot be reached within three days following the first attempt of contact or declines the prize, the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business will then award the prize to the next runner up. The winners overall may be announced on the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business social media sites and on the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business website.
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Instagram video submissions received.
Winners will be required to answer a mathematical skill test in order to be eligible to receive their prize.
Prize Distribution
The prizes available to be won are: (i) 4 iPad minis which will be given out throughout the contest via a voting system via likes and/ort comments on the Peter B. Gustavson social media sites. There will be only one prize per individual or group. No prize substitutions will be allowed.
General
The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business reserves the right to amend the contest rules herein or to terminate the contest at any time without any liability to any contestant or third party. Any amendments to these contest rules and regulations herein will be posted on the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business website.
The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business assumes no liability for any loss, damage or injury, including but not limited to: (i) lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late, destroyed, ineligible or incomplete entries; (ii) loss, theft or damage to software or computer or telephone data, including but not limited to any breach of privacy; (iii) fraudulent calls or communications; (iv) inability of any person to participate in the contest herein for any reason including mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail, technical, computer or telephone malfunctions or other problems with computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, or software, congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing; (v) damage to any computer, including as a result of participating in the contest herein; or (vi) prizes that cannot be awarded or accepted.
