UVic's Innovative Global Business Program Wins Honour
The Master of Global Business (MGB) program at the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business has received national recognition for its high quality international education.
UVic is receiving the Outstanding Program award from the respected Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE). UVic’s one-year program, offered since 2010 under the aegis of the Sardul S. Gill Graduate School, sees students work and live on three continents as they study international business practices, develop leadership skills and learn at least one new language. The current year’s cohorts will soon leave Victoria for Rouen, France and Seoul, Korea or Kaohsiung, Taiwan and Linz, Austria.
“It is a great honour to have this new program recognized for what it uniquely offers,” says program director Dr. Ignace Ng. “The success of this program is only possible because of the support of the faculty, the excellent relationship developed with the partner institutions and the commitment of the staff to the program. Growing demand for program entry and our students’ success show us we’re on the right track.”
After the MGB (which includes an international internship), students launch their careers with global knowledge both deep and wide, with real-world experience and some proficiency in another language. They also possess an essentially ineffable yet equally important quality: confidence to deal with the ambiguity and complexity of today’s global business environment.
The prestigious award, which validates peer recognition of creativity and high quality in international education, will be presented Nov.6 in Montreal at CBIE’s 46th annual conference. CBIE’s membership represents about 200 Canadian educational institutions dedicated to international education.
