Background
Terry Mughan has been working in the field of intercultural business communication for 14 years and has been a key player in its establishment as an area of academic and professional interest in the UK. He taught the first MBA intercultural management module in the UK when at the University of Wolverhampton in 1991. At Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge, he validated the first postgraduate degree programme in Intercultural Studies in 1995 and the first undergraduate one in 1999. He was the Founding President of SIETAR UK, the leading world professional society for interculturalists, a post he occupied for three years.
Terry’s research interests have revolved around business internationalisation strategies, including a 1200 company study of companies in the East of England. He has also acted as consultant to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) study ‘Removing Barriers to SME Access to International Markets’. He coordinated the ARU contribution to a European project looking at new innovation-driven business models in the tele-health sector
Terry has extensive experience as a consultant and trainer to companies of all sizes, in the areas of intercultural management, exporting, leadership and strategic transformation. He speaks French and German fluently. Terry’s work was recognised by Anglia Ruskin University in March 2006 when he was designated Professor of International Management. His current research focus is the process of new innovation theory between policy bodies, companies and universities.
