Prior to joining the University of Victoria, David Boag was Professor of Marketing at the University of Saskatchewan and Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. During the period of 1971-1978 he was the owner/operator of a wilderness fly-in resort in Northern Ontario and participated in the management of his family operated resorts in the Cayman Islands. Dr. Boag is the author of over 40 publications on the effectiveness of marketing strategies and the design of marketing activities in small and medium-sized businesses. His current research examines the characteristics and performance of strategic partnerships among small and medium sized technology companies.

Dr. Boag has acted as a consultant for such diverse groups as the Governments of Canada, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, Federal Business Development Bank, Develcon Electronics, and Saskatchewan Wheat Pool.
