Bert recruits, consults and negotiates with a diverse set of co-operative education clients including students and employers.

After receiving his Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University, Bert worked with Drake Personnel before joining Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. Research Co. (AECL-RC) at Chalk River, Ontario in different Human Resources roles. It was here that Bert first became involved with co-operative education, hiring co-op students. Later, he moved to southern Ontario and joined the newly formed Business Co-op Program at Wilfrid  Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Over the next few years, Bert combined his human resource expertise with his marketing skills and worked to expand co-op's importance both on and off campus. 

In 1994, Bert relocated to the West Coast and joined the UVic Business Co-op and Career Centre where he continues to work with a diverse set of clients.

Bert has been involved with: the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE); the Association for Co-operative Education (ACE); and the executive of the Manufactures and Exporters of BC. Currently, Mr. Klatt is a member of the BC—Human Resource Management Association (BC-HRMA) from which he holds a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation.
