Business Career Centre

You’ve got your degree … now it’s time to get your job! UVic Career Services will help you however they can. They’re experts at connecting students and alumni to employers and identifying employers with jobs willing to wait until you graduate. They’re here to help you find your way through the many resources available to UVic students and grads.

Schedule an appointment on-line by going to the Learning in Motion Portal and sign in under Student and Alumni.  Select Career from the top menu.

  • Click on: Appointments
  • Choose: “Meet with a member from Career Services”
  • Scroll down to: Career Educator for Business
  • Click on: Appointment Availability

Job Postings

A long list of places to look for available positions can be just as disheartening as no job listings at all. Career Services has done some of the grunt work for you, and selected a short list of key sites from which to start mapping your search.

UVic Career Board   

This board contains posting targeted specifically at graduating students and recent alumni.  Employers wanting Gustavson grads post here.

  • Go to: https://learninginmotion.uvic.ca/home.htm
  • Sign in under: Student and Alumni.
  • Select: Career from the top menu.
  • Click on: Job Postings.  The Search features allow you to search for postings with by location and occupation, save your searches and be notified via e-mail when new jobs are posted that match your search criteria.

General & Industry Specific Job Boards

It's common to change careers multiple times over the course of your working life. Career management is a journey, and there is no one set path. The journey kit can help you discover what motivates you, research career options, search for work and chart your career path—wherever it may lead!

Graduate Recruitment
Programs

A number of larger employers (both national and international) offer structured recruitment programs targeted specifically at graduates. These types of programs typically include specialized training, rotational opportunities throughout the organization and early advancement opportunities. Some are a set period in length, others lead to permanent opportunities. For a listing of companies we have identified offering Graduate Recruitment Programs that may be of interest to Gustavson grads.

  • Coop & Career Tool kit:   A solid resume and cover letter are your best first steps to landing the job you want, and a strong interview can seal the deal.  Here's some great resources.
  • Coop & Career Competency Kit: Need help identifying and describing your skills in your resume and interview? Completing some of the activities explained in the competency kit can help your market yourself more successfully to employers.
  • Build Your Network:  Connect with other alumni and share information on everything from the best pubs to job leads.
