MBAs continue streak of success with case competitions
On March 23, the team representing UVic’s MBA program walked onstage to present at the final round of the Pacific Venture Capital Conference & Competition in Vancouver. They walked out winners.
The team, consisting of MBA students Bhupinder Dulku, Hazen Fowler, Nathan Leung and Harpreet Parhar, presented in and ultimately won first place in the Venture Capital stream of the international competition.
The competition included three rounds over the course of three months: a startup valuation, a video submission, a second round of start-up valuations and a live presentation at the conference. Pitting their entrepreneurial, strategy and presentation skills against 30 teams from around the world, they were one of three groups to ultimately advance to the final round. They also received the Enriched Learning Grant, presented by the MBA program to help students offset travel costs associated with case competitions.
Down the road at the SFU Net Impact case competition on March 24, 1st year MBA students Sam Shury, Nikheel Premsagar, Uma Sundari Athenam and Amit Chaurasia also flexed their competitive muscles at the sustainability-themed challenge, which saw competitors from across North America.
