Basics

Before you embark on your thesis or dissertation preparation, research and writing you should familiarize yourself with the various sources of support you have available as a graduate student. Make sure you've read through the responsibilities of the supervisory relationship policy, which outlines your responsibilities as well as those of your supervisor, your committee and the dean.

Thesis completion group

The thesis completion group offers support and encouragement and a place to problem-solve issues related to completing your thesis or dissertation. Guest scholars share tips and strategies that they have found helpful.

The thesis completion group also maintains a research guide to resources useful to graduate students at UVic.

The Writing Centre

The Writing Centre in the Mearns Centre for Learning holds writing workshops and seminars for graduate students each term.

Get help planning organizing and writing your thesis, including managing your thesis or dissertation, a workshop offering eight principles to guide you in keeping your writing on track.

Library workshops and RefWorks classes

UVic Libraries also offers specialized services and workshops for graduate students.
