Your supervisor

Connecting with an available academic supervisor who is a good match to see you through a thesis, research project or dissertation is a key piece of the graduate puzzle. It's important to get this right.

UVic’s expertise database

Use the expertise database to learn more about UVic’s areas of research strength and the faculty members and researchers already here.

Advising and program contacts

Advising and program contacts such as your graduate adviser and graduate secretary know the ins and outs of your program and degree. They’re often familiar with the teaching and research schedules of faculty members. Where necessary, they may help you to create an initial list of available and compatible graduate supervisors.

The supervisor-student relationship

Your relationship with your academic supervisor is a significant part of the graduate experience, since you’ll work with your supervisor from start to finish.
