Kristina Brache, a PhD student in the Department of Psychology with the Centre for Addictions Research, is researching the dangers of consuming energy drinks and alcohol.

With an M.A. in medieval and Renaissance English literature from UVic, Dirk (Baba) Brinkman first made a name for himself translating Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales into rap; he has now become a sensation for rapping about evolution.

Kita Douglas achieved balance between academics and family while studying for her Master’s degree. She received the Lieutenant Governor's Silver Medal as the top master'sstudent for program achievement at the Spring 2012 convocation.

Jessica Simpson Nathan received her MSc in Biology from UVic in 2011, was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal at the Spring 2012 convocation ceremony on the basis of her overall academic excellence (she maintained a 9.0 grade point average in her graduate studies) and an outstanding thesis.

Dr. Haytham El-Miligi is this year’s Governor General’s Gold Medal winner as the top PhD student across all faculties.

David Trill, master's candidate, is studying child health through healthy eating activities.  He's currently seeking participants to get his home based research project off the ground.  Trill hopes to teach families healthy eating strategies because it's the parents who are the gatekeepers of the kids.
