As the Faculty of Social Sciences’ development officer, Barb Roberts is responsible for securing funding for innovative and important research and teaching activities as well as scholarships and bursaries. She works behind the scenes connecting with individuals, businesses, government agencies and foundations all in an effort to promote UVic’s amazing students and researchers.

Curating UVic's art collections

Caroline Riedel is curator of the University of Victoria Art Collections, which means she wears many smocks. She trains and supervises students in workstudy or co-op positions, works with faculty to incorporate the collections into their teaching and research and with donors who want to give their art to UVic. She also—most visibly to us—programs display and exhibition spaces on and off campus.

Drilling a well on campus or coordinating an international field school in Europe is all in a day’s work for David Nelles. A senior laboratory instructor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences (SEOS), David ensures the school’s extensive lab- and field-based programs deliver outstanding learning experiences for students.
