Facilities Management plays an important role in helping the university mitigate emergencies and minimize disruption. For Emergency Preparedness Week (May 6-12), the department has launched an updated Emergency Operation Plan for staff, who play critical roles in assessing and maintaining campus infrastructure, utilities and grounds.

On May 11, Facilities Management staff exercised the emergency plan by erecting the Facilities Management Ranger Tent in front of the Saunders building. During a major campus emergency, this tent may be valuable as a rest area for staff or as the departmental operations centre.
