Enhanced Planning

Post-secondary institutions everywhere are measuring up – using best practices and available resources to deliver programs, play to academic strengths and align goals and priorities within strategic plans.

UVic prides itself on transparency and accountability and has adopted new processes and reporting technology to give a clear picture of where we are and how we will map our future. In a post-secondary environment where enhancing the quality of academic programs is critical, it's more important than ever to align the university's resources with its priorities.

Enhanced Planning utilizes tools that UVic adopted for organizational forecasting and decision making for all units, faculties and departments in 2015-16. The centrepiece is a UVic designed software reporting and recording system that helps decision-makers in academic, administrative and support units achieve their goals.

Self-reporting

In February of 2016, all units on campus provided Enhanced Planning Tools data. This information was collected through a new software system built by University Systems, designed for UVic's needs. Unit responses to a set of qualitative questions are augmented by centrally provided data that is delivered to units through the same software system.

Each summer the central data will be refreshed with information collected during the previous year, and units will be asked to update their qualitative material to reflect the new central data during the fall term.
