In Engineering (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Software Engineering), an option means you take extra courses in addition to the required core and electives.
In Computer Science an option means you focus most of your electives in a particular area.

** Specializations

In Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering a specialization means you focus most of your electives in a particular area.
In Mechanical Engineering you can choose from technical electives.
