Engineering and Computer Science Programs
Computer Science and Music ( Bachelor )
This combined program lets you combine your interests in music and computer science and technology.
Digital audio is a rapidly growing and complex field. It is an essential component of digital video (films and video games have audio) and can also stand alone (music).
Students who can work both with technology and music can be found producing music recordings, creating music for films, video games, and working in other aspects of the entertainment industry. Live performance, sampling, and compression are other areas of interest for students with technology and music skills. Cutting edge work with 3-D sound controllers and other interdisciplinary research is also possible. Technology and music are an ever-changing combination.
Although students in this combined program are considered to be equally part of both Computer Science and Music, their "home" department will be the School of Music.
Enrollment in this program is limited and students will be admitted to the program at the end of first year. Contact an adviser in either Music or Computer Science early in first year.
