BC high schools are invited to select a three-person team of Grade 11 and 12 students to compete in UVic's Engineering and Computer Science Challenge Day on Friday, November 27th.
The day will begin at 10:00 am with an introduction, an explanation of the day's events and a keynote address by Dr. Nigel Livingston of CanAssist. CanAssist is an organization dedicated to developing innovative technology, programs and services that improve the quality of life of those with special needs.
The afternoon will consist of a mystery build project, where teams will be required to construct a specific device to assist a person with special needs.
The winning team will be selected based on the results of the project device. The first, second and third place teams will receive prizes, and the first place team will receive a plaque to exhibit at their school.
Please note: students will be responsible for their own travel to and from the UVic campus. Full supervision will be provided during the event. A pizza lunch will be provided, as well as all other materials. There is no charge for this event.
To register your team, please complete the registration form and mail or fax it to the address on the form. If you have any questions, please email the organizers at succeed@engr.uvic.ca, or call 250-472-4205.
We look forward to seeing you at the Challenge Day!
