Congratulations to Dr. Mantis Cheng, recipient of the Faculty of Engineering Award for Excellence in Teaching
Dr. Margaret Anne (Peggy) Storey studies how technology can help people explore, understand, visualize and share big data sources and complex information. Dr. Storey is currently looking at how social media can advance a more participatory culture in the software development community. “My goal is to improve software tools that encourage knowledge workers to think and work together, making it easier for people to learn, share knowledge and connect with others,” she says.
Andreas Bergen awarded Farquharson Teaching Award
Congratulations to Andreas Bergen, PhD candidate in computer science. Andreas was awarded the 2015 Farquharson Teaching Award for Graduate Students. He is supervised by Drs. Muller and Coady.
Improving seniors' home care with wireless technology
Dr. Jens Weber, Professor in the Department of Computer Science, is a co-principal investigator in an innovative project with Dr. Scott Hofer, director of UVic's Centre on Aging and Dr. Morgan Price, Adjunct Professor. In a partnership with Island Health, Cerner Corporation, and Ayogo, they will collaborate on building a "learning health care system".
