Congratulations to Beth Tuinstra, student from the Master of Arts, Curriculum and Instruction program in Music Education with Dr. Anita Prest. Beth on winning the SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship - Master's Level for her research on the use of non-Western music education practices by music educator in British Columbia.

The SSHRC scholarship aims to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of scholarly achievement in undergraduate and graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities.

Beth has spent years traveling during which she has taught in South Korea. Through her travels and teaching in schools with culturally diverse student populations, she has developed a passion for using culturally varied kinds of music that reflect the diversity of her students in her teaching practices.
