Canon Vixia HD (HD quality) - saves to SD memory cards as a compressed file
Sony miniDV (high-quality video) - must supply own miniDV tape
Sony 8mm (for direct video capture, e.g. interviews, streaming video) - must supply own 8mm tape
Canon Powershot A570IS (for pictures and standard quality videos)

Available for loan in D209. Note: you have to supply your own tape to use the Sony miniDVs and 8mm.
Unlike our other cameras, the Canon Vixia uses SD memory cards to store footage instead of tape. This allows for longer videos (tapes are only 60 minutes) and saves users from the lengthy process of importing their footage into a video editing program (iMovie, Final Cut Pro/Express, Adobe Premiere) in order to create digital files. Files must be converted from .MTS format before they will be playable.
