"UVic Education has been a safe haven for me...it's like home. I was a sheep when I arrived. Now, I'm soaring, I can see where I'm headed, I'm confident and powerful. Now, I am an eagle!"
Indigenous Education at UVic is committed to making our environment more welcoming to Indigenous people, to meet the language revitalization needs of Indigenous communities and to educate both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
While we have many different degree programs, the faculty is currently focused increasing the number of educators with Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) ancestry. If you identify yourself as First Nations, Métis or Inuit, you may be eligible for a reserved seat in our teacher education programs.
Currently, Indigenous Education offers both udergraduate and graduate certificate and degree programs in Indigenous Language Revitalization and Indigenous Education courses in Teacher Education in the Faculty of Education.
