Co-op application
requirements

What's required

To apply to Chemistry Co-op, you must:

• have and maintain at least a B average in chemistry courses and overall
• be pursuing a full-time major or honours in chemistry
• be willing to accept placements outside of Victoria
• demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy of co-operative education

Graduating with co-op designation

If you successfully complete the requirements of the co-op program, you'll earn a co-op distinction on your degree when you graduate. Undergraduate students must complete four work terms to graduate with co-op designation. Graduate students must complete two to three work terms.

• Contact the chemistry co-op coordinator to make an appointment

When to apply

You can apply to Chemistry Co-op in your first or second year—no later than the start of your third year. Applications are accepted until Sept 30 each year. If you’re a graduate student, contact the Chemistry Co-op office to see if co-op will fit with your academic schedule.

Experience Program

Chemistry Work Experience Program

Not sure if co-op is right for you? As a biology student, you can apply to the Chemistry Work Experience Program at any time during your degree and complete two paid work terms instead of four. You’ll receive the same benefits and support as a co-op student, and you can choose to transfer into the Chemistry Co-op Program later on (if it's still early enough in your studies).
