After your work term

After your work term

After your work term has ended, you'll need to:

  • send in your work term report (by email to bico@uvic.ca)
  • contact your co-op office to let us know when you plan to go on your next work term
  • sign in to MyPage to update your address
  • submit the debriefing form by September 15, January 15 or May 15
  • complete your Final Competencies Assessment prior to September 30th (your employer's comments are due after yours and by September 30th)
  • sign up for your oral presentation (held in the third week of September, January and May)
  • attend a debriefing session with your coordinator to discuss your work term report, evaluation, oral presentation grade and future plans

Oral presentation guidelines

These tips can help you prepare for your oral presentation.  Your actual presentation should be about 8 minutes long with time for questions at the end.

What to include

  • Background of the organization you worked for, its location and a brief description of its overall mandate.
  • Introduction to your specific projects, goals and rationale.
  • Description of your methods and results (this should be the main body of your talk and you can use visual aids to emphasize your points).
  • Project conclusions and description of further work that is needed.
  • Leave 3 to 4 minutes for questions.

How to use visual aids (like PowerPoint presentations)

  • Make writing large enough for everyone to see.
  • Don’t include lots of details or too much text—include main points and expand on each point verbally.
  • Be organized. Test your presentation beforehand, and bring everything you’ll need.
