Brian Wan

Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF) Cape Breton (DND)

This summer, Brian Wan’s (right) work will have a positive ecological impact. The University of Victoria mechanical engineering student is on a work term at Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF) CAPE BRETON, a unit of the Department of National Defence that delivers engineering and maintenance services to the Pacific Naval Fleet at CFB Esquimalt.

Brian is working under the supervision of Barry Ross (left) to help design an air bubble curtain that will keep marine wildlife from entering the drydock. This curtain will not only save wildlife, but will also improve the efficiency of drydock maintenance operations. Brian is one of many UVic co-op students working with local employers on projects that benefit Greater Victoria and beyond.
