Neverblue supports co-op students and sees big rewards

Anubhav Mishra

Neverblue

As an international student who has only been in Canada for two years, Anubhav Mishra has already started to make great headway for himself. The University of Victoria computer engineering student hopes to launch a career as a network engineer, so it’s no surprise that he found the perfect co-operative education work term with local online marketing company Neverblue.

Neverblue, a Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce member, is a strong supporter of co-operative education. The company has hired both engineering and business students to assist on both sides of the business, which specializes in bringing advertisers and clients together through unique lead generation.

As a member of the tech team, Anubhav is responsible for speaking with customers to identify technical issues like pixel problems and software bugs. He then has the opportunity to fix these same bugs and help improve product development.

“Every day has been different and the tech team has been amazing,” says Anubhav. “I’ve learned so much about software management, how to document my work and how to present my ideas to the team. I’ve definitely learned things that I couldn’t learn in the classroom.”

Software Development Manager Derek Sorgard was excited to welcome Anubhav to the team. “Students like Mishra bring value to the team and help us connect with our customers,” he says. “They bring a wealth of experience as well as enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. It’s a positive experience for the company as well as for the co-op student.”

Even though co-op work terms are mandatory for his engineering degree, Mishra says that he would gladly choose to do co-op terms if they were optional. “Neverblue has given me an edge that I can take forward as I develop my career,” he says. “They’ve played a big role in my education.”
