Petersen first learned about Co-op and Career while completing his graduate degree in neuroscience. When he heard that Co-op and Career could help him search for a job, he stopped by the main office beside the Bookstore for an appointment.
“After my first meeting with Dawn,” a UVic career educator, “I knew I had made a good decision. Dawn did not hesitate to help with my résumé, providing ongoing suggestions over a period of a month. She was a great help!”
Ross has learned that job-hunting can be painstaking, requiring daily job applications on many different job-posting sites. “Co-op and Career was a great resource for me as I applied to different positions. I was able to work with Dawn to tailor my résumé and cover letter for different job postings.”
Ross’s goal has always been to find a well-paying and fun job in the medical field. With the help of Co-op and Career, Ross has landed a job at the BC Children’s Hospital as a clinical research coordinator.
“Career Services improved the professionalism and detail of my résumé,” Ross says. “I would definitely recommend that other students consult with a career educator to get advice about résumé and cover letter writing. They can help you showcase your skills and get close to finding the best job for you.”
UVic’s Co-op and Career helps students improve their job search techniques, fine-tune their résumés and cover letter, practice interviews, and apply for graduate and professional schools.
