Explore funding opportunities

Funding iconAs an employer, you may be eligible for funding to help your organization hire a UVic student or graduate.

  • Are you hiring a co-op student? Special funding opportunities for co-op employers are available here.

Government
funding

The provincial and federal governments offer several wage subsidy programs. You may qualify for some of the following programs.

Canada Summer Jobs Program

Canada Summer Jobs Program

The Canada Summer Jobs Program, offered through Service Canada, provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students.

Are you a hiring manager planning to employ a student for the summer? We encourage you to review this funding opportunity and submit an application before January 30, 2015.

Important information

  • Student work cannot take away from union work. If you have questions about whether the work qualifies as union-exempt "student" employment or whether it might be considered work included under one of the UVic labour unions (see Question #7 on the application) please contact your HR advisor for support before submitting your application.
  • You must submit all applications directly to Service Canada (without union concurrence documentation). You must also email a copy—including the confirmation number)—to Audrey Thom at aethom@uvic.ca for Co-op and Career Services records no later than the January 30, 2015 deadline.
  • Co-op and Career Services will review all applications and, where required, obtain concurrence letters, which you can then send to Service Canada to complete your application.
