Become a Connect U volunteer!
The Connect U planning committee is currently seeking volunteers for the 2013 Connect U all staff conference on Feb. 20 and 21, 2013. If you are looking for an exciting and different way to get involved in your campus community and connect with your colleagues, join the Connect U volunteer team.
We have a number of different volunteer opportunities available (see below) to help the event run smoothly and successfully.
Volunteer roles and responsibilities
Tour liaison
- Greet participants when they arrive
- Ensure participants know where to meet for tours
- Be famililar with tour routes and provide directions to late-comers so they can catch up
- Answer general questions
Registration table assistant
- Greet participants when they arrive
- Provide participants with their name tags and lunch tickets (tucked in back) if they have registered for a lunch session
- Ensure participants receive conference booklets and remind them to complete the included evaluation sheet
- Receive completed evaluation forms
- Give directions to sessions
- Answer general questions
Room host
- Arrive at your assigned room at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session and stay for 10 minutes after the session ends
- Help presenters with room set-up, handouts, etc. as required
- Welcome participants at the door as they arrive
- Introduce the presenter(s)
- Assist with lights, etc. during the session
- Thank presenter(s) at the conclusion of the session and provide any other announcements required
- Assist presenter(s) with clearing the room and preparing for the next session
Lunch ticket taker
- Greet participants when they arrive
- Collect lunch tickets
- Direct participants with special dietary needs to the appropriate area to pick up their lunches
- Answer general questions
