Gain perspective and knowledge from a panel of politicians and political commentators including George Abbott, MA '78, former provincial cabinet minister and retired MLA, and Dr. Dennis Pilon, expert on BC politics and formerly at UVic, now at York University. Marking the 50th anniversary of UVic, this panel offers commentary on the upcoming election followed by a Q & A moderated by Dr. James Lawson, UVic Political Science.
Afterwards, there will be a reception with coffee and cookies to facilitate further networking and discussion. All welcome - free to attend!

Join us for two days of seminars, field trips and archival exhibitions that bring to vivid life the stories of Roman Catholic missionaries during the period of Victoria's colonial settlement. The focus is on two extraordinary legacies: the "bishop's books," a collection of 3500 rare editions from Renaissance-era Europe brought to Victoria during the 1870s and currently housed in the University of Victoria's Special Collections; and the Sisters of St. Ann Archives at the Royal British Columbia Museum.

Congress 2013 offers delegates, staff, volunteers and community members eight exciting days of academic excellence, public lectures and community celebrations as part of UVic’s 50th anniversary. Highlights include the Big Thinking speaker series and the largest academic book fair in Canada, as well as daily performances on the outdoor stage (including an evening concert with Buffy Sainte Marie June 5), artisan fairs and exhibits, social/cultural events and activities showcasing the beauty and cultural traditions of the university, Victoria and the West Coast.
