Volunteering

Heart UVic

Want to lend a hand?

Staying active with UVic, your fellow alumni and current students is a very rewarding experience. Here are some of the ways you can maintain your connection to UVic through the alumni association.

UVic Alumni Association committees

Several of the standing committees of the UVic Alumni Association board include committee members who are not board members. These committees are:

  • Alumni Networks and Events
  • Communications
  • Enterprises
  • Grants and Awards
  • Student and Alumni Programs

For details about volunteering for one of the committees, please contact the assistant to the director, at 250-721-6255.

Branches

Formed by alumni living in the same city or geographic region, alumni brances rely on volunteers to assist in planning activities and events. Visit our alumni branches page to locate a branch near you and to contact its members.

If your city or region is not listed, contact:

Marlene Davie, Alumni Engagement Officer
250-721-6012

Chapters

Alumni chapters are formed by alumni with special interests, groups or specific areas of study. Volunteers assist with planning activities and events.

Visit our Chapters page to see if there is one that suits your interests.

Events

Alumni Relations occasionally needs volunteers to help with planning and staging one-time alumni events. If you can't commit to a regular volunteer schedule, then this may be a good fit.

Ask Marlene Davie, Alumni Engagement Officer, at 250-721-6012 or by , to add your name to the list of volunteers who may be called upon from time to time for events help.

Helping Students

Alumni make vital contributions to the University of Victoria by sharing knowledge and experience with students. Alumni volunteers are needed from a broad range of careers and fields to connect with students to share their UVic experiences and career advice.

Young Alumni

The UVic Young Alumni Council keeps UVic alumni actively involved with UVic, and each other, during the first 10 years after graduation. The council’s primary mission is to advocate for the needs of young alumni and lead the UVic Young Alumni program.

Reasons to Volunteer

Alumni volunteers find lots of rewarding reasons to share their time:

  • Meet new people and make friends. Maybe you'll run into a former classmate.
  • Expand your skills and develop a sense of community.
  • Receive recognition from your alma mater.
  • Have fun. Volunteering is a great social pastime and it's flexible.
  • We can work with you so it fits into your schedule.
