Celebrating the impact of UVic grads
More than a dozen events – including talks, awards and workshops – were featured in the 10th annual UVic Alumni Week, focusing on the vital impact of the university’s graduates locally and around the world.
- UVic Chancellor Shelagh Rogers sharing her personal journey as an honorary witness to the proceedings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in an interview with CHEK News anchor (and UVic alumna) Stacy Ross at First Metropolitan United Church.
- The Distinguished Alumni Awards recognizing the accomplishments of 13 outstanding UVic grads including Westjet vice-president of marketing Bob Cummings, author and former chief of the Xat’sull (Soda Creek) First Nation Bev Sellars, and long-serving Langford city councilor and Capital Regional District director Denise Blackwell.
- A fun and practical Networking Etiquette workshop offered tips and advice to help alumni and students navigate potentially awkward but important career-oriented social gatherings.
- And because remembering student life tends to strike a nostalgic chord, we put on an online Flashback Foto contest.
Alumni Week 2018 will be from February 5 - 11.
